Robert Burns National Heritage Park |
|
Robert Burns was born on the cold winters day of January 25th 1975 at
the home that his father William built.
This "Auld Clay Biggin" has become one of the must see attractions in
Ayrshire, and has attracted some famous visitors like John Keats, Clark
Gable and Muhammed Ali. Fully restored to its original condition, the
cottage includes an audio and visual interpretation of Burns's life.
Live the 'Tam O'Shanter' experience through
sight and sound in the modern visitor centre, including gift shop and
licensed restaurant, serving good home-made Scottish food. Also take a
visit to the 'Auld Kirk' where the story of Tam O'Shanter was set. Some
visitors have said to experience strange feelings whilst wondering round
the kirks crumbling walls.
Kirk Alloway as it is also know is the resting place of Robert's father
William Burnes.
Other attractions in the park include a
Museum, Burns Monument, The Brig O' Doon and Statue House.
The park is easily accessed by road and public transport, and has a
