IRISHMAN Tim Clancy is eager to stay at Kilmarnock.
And he says he’ll be grabbing every opportunity he can to impress his gaffer.
Clancy, who made his sixth appearance for the Rugby Park side on Saturday, is hoping his performance will win him even more starts in the run up to the end of the season.
The 23-year-old defender said: “Saturday’s game was a great game to play in. We’ve been performing well recently, and to get a great result like that, was a just reward for all our efforts.
“I’d like to think I might get a few more games, but competition for places is fierce. Jamie Hamill has been terrific, grant Murray played in my position and Martyn Corrigan is coming back, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
“I’m just going to take every chance I get with both hands and do my best to impress.”
Clancy, who hails from County Meath, has settled in the Kilmarnock area with his fiancee and his two little daughters.
He added: “I love living in Kilmarnock and so does the family. My oldest daughter is at nursery now and they all love it here.
“I would love to stay at Killie. I’m really enjoying my football and the atmosphere between the players is great.
“Even though we’ve not had a great season, the dressing room has always been buzzing and training has always been upbeat. We’ve just been unlucky with injuries.”
Clancy, who previously played for Weymouth and Millwall, is now hoping that with Killie’s third home win on the bounce, Killie can now go on a run of sorts.
He added: “There are plenty of points still up for grabs, so we’ll have to do our best, firstly against Falkirk on Saturday.
“It’ll be a tough game but they’ll be under pressure as they’re fighting to stay in the top six.
“We’ll just have to play the best we can and try and build on the run of games we’ve had recently.”
