A leading Edinburgh restaurant and bar has launched a unique charity
initiative to celebrate the launch of its new winter menu.
Browns on George Street is holding a special evening for Maggies Cancer
Caring Centre in Edinburgh, where complimentary spaces will be set aside for
people prepared to make a donation to the cause.
The evening has been organised by restaurant manager Sarah Fox to give groups
the chance to sample dishes from the new menu, while backing such a worthy
cause.
She said: The food is complimentary and all we are asking in return is that
diners make a discretionary donation to Maggies, we have allocated tables of
ten so it would be ideal for a group of work colleagues.
We are extremely proud of the new menu and thought this would be a great way
to celebrate its launch and showcase it to guests whilst helping raise funds for
a fantastic local cause.
The new menu features a variety of tempting appetisers, starters and lighter
dishes, main courses and puddings such as Stilton & Warm Roasted Pear
Flatbread, Walnut and Four Cheese Pasta with burnt butter and asparagus, Steamed
Mushroom Pudding on a bed of rocket, Braised Lamb Shank with crushed new
potatoes in a beer sauce and Apple Pie with fresh custard.
Browns is now hoping that residents and businesses in Edinburgh will help the
make the event a success by booking the table on the evening on Monday 6th
November.
Anyone wishing to reserve for a group of up to ten people can contact Sarah
on 0113 225 4442, with spaces being allocated on a first come first served
basis.
Maggies spokesperson Briony Carr is delighted with the gesture and is hoping
people will support Browns on the evening.
Briony said: We have a very good relationship with Browns and they have
always come up with enjoyable fund raising occasions that are great events for
guests whilst helping raise our profile and much needed funds.
The charity table at the new menu launch is another of these and hopefully
they will get a company or group to support them with
this.
